Not that much has changed

Added on July 8, 2026 by Jaime Permuth.

Four years ago, the world had finally emerged from the pandemic. Throughout the crisis, we had kept Olin and Luca very close and protected them as best as we could from contagion.

Initially, it was hard for us to start sending them to Day Care. Seeing the bus leave with them forced a couple of audible sighs from us before we slowly began walking back home.

But then, there was the joy and anticipation of greeting them when they returned in the afternoon. Those days, our first stop was always the neighborhood playgrounds.

Funny thing is when I look at these photos from 2022, I recognize the boys’ personalities immediately. In a sense, not that much has changed. And even back then, they would always bring their heads close together to examine an insect they had just caught.
