Transitional Bodies exhibition at FOTO DC festival
Two images from my series The Completely Visible World are included in the exhibition Transitional Bodies which opens in Washington DC on November 9th.
As per the press release:
'Transitional Bodies / Cuerpos en Transición' presents cutting-edge artists from Latin America, Portugal and Spain that move away from the typical stereotypes and propose provocative, modern vanguard photography. Along those lines, the Iberoamerican Cultural Attachés Association has been participating for the last four years in the annual FotoweekDC Festival, giving the opportunity to photographers in Latin America, the US and Europe to showcase their work in what is a fast changing photography scene. Curator of the exhibition Fabián Goncalves highlights, “Transitional Bodies proposes a glance at different point of views of the Iberoamerican photographic techniques from transition to transformation of the human body. Grouped in different series this exhibition does not intend to represent Iberoamerica, but to express in great part its cultural eclecticism.”

Jaime Permuth nominated for the 2012 Smithsonian American Art Museum's Contemporary Artist Award
I am thrilled to announce that I am one of 15 artists nominated nationwide for the 2012 Smithsonian American Art Museum's Contemporary Artist Award. "The award was established in 2001 to recognize an artist younger than 50 who has produced a significant body of work and consistently demonstrates exceptional creativity. Nominated artists work in a diverse range of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, film and video. Artists must be nominated by a juror to be considered for the award; there is no application. The $25,000 award is intended to encourage the artist’s future development and experimentation".
